Prostate Diagnostic and Therapeutic Clinic


The Prostate Diagnostic and Therapeutic Clinic at Hadley Wood Hospital provides treatment for Urology patients with prostate issues. The service is provided by our multidisciplinary consultant team working with PPU nursing, radiology and management staff.

Prostate issues are becoming increasingly common in men with 1 in 5 developing symptoms associated with the cancer.

By combining the individual skills of our consultant team, we provide an integrated, patient centred approach giving all patients access to a full range of state of the art investigations and treatments, making their experience as comfortable as possible along the way.

The service provides regular prostate assessment clinics where patients can be assessed in a holistic and streamlined way with most investigations provided at the first attendance

We can provide investigations for complaints such as, raised PSA level (can be associated with prostate cancer), clinical suspicion of prostate cancer, lower urinary tract symptoms and self referrals for prostate health check

Patients will be seen by a consultant urologist with a specialist interest in prostate disease.

Investigations offered on the day will include: 

  • MRI of the prostate with immediate reporting by a specialist prostate MDT radiologist
  • Flow rate studies
  • Bladder ultrasound
  • Dipstick urinalysis
  • Blood tests
  • Transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy of the prostate

Following assessment, patients will be counselled about other investigative and therapeutic options that are available such as Image fusion prostate biopsy techniques, Transperineal biopsy of the prostate, Medical therapy for prostate disorders and Prostate surgery (includes laser surgery).
