Necklift

neck-lift

A Neck lift (also known as as Platysmaplasty) is a surgical procedure that removes the lose skin surrounding the jawline and neck area, resulting in smoother skin with less wrinkles. Ultimately it will reshape the skin around the neck and jaw reducing signs of ageing or sagging.

There are many different reasons why patients choose to have neck lift surgery – excess skin after weight loss, reduction of skin elasticity due to ageing, treatment for aesthetic damage caused by the sun or treatment for illnesses. At Hadley Wood Hospital our consultants are highly trained experts and will tailor each service to the patients needs ensuring all procedures are carried out to the highest standard.

The Procedure

Neck lift surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic, taking approximately 2-3 hours. Your surgeon will make a small incision in both the hairline and behind the ears, stretching the loose skin over the jaw line and neck. Muscles will then be tightened and excess skin will be trimmed, placed in a new position using surgical sutures.

The procedure is minimally invasive leaving little scaring around the facial area with incisions being made behind the ears and hairline effectively hiding their visibility.

Aftercare

Patients are advised to take between 1-2 weeks off work for recovery. During this time you should notice your swelling will reduce and your skin will have a tighter, smoother feel. Scarring, if any, should fade quickly.

Your surgeon will advise you of the appropriate aftercare following your surgery and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
