Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reducing the size of or reshaping the labia minora. Over time, the genital area can change in shape or size leaving you feeling self conscious about its appearance.

The ageing process can cause the labia to enlarge and lose tone which can cause discomfort when doing physical activity or wearing tight clothing. Labiaplasty would be carried out to correct and redefine the appearance of the labia. This procedure can be performed alongside other procedures such as vaginoplasty. At Hadley Wood Hospital our consultants are highly trained experts and will tailor each service to the patients needs ensuring all procedures are carried out to the highest standard.

Procedure

Your procedure can be performed under either local or general anaesthetic but this will be determined by your surgeon after your initial consultation. They will begin by removing the unwanted tissue with a scalpel which will then be stitched up with dissolvable stitches.

The procedure should take around 1-2 hours and you should be able to return home the same day.

Aftercare

After your procedure you may feel some discomfort and swelling which will disappear after 1-2 weeks, you should be able to return to work within a week. When the incisions have healed they will be rarely noticeable. You are advised to to wear loose fitting clothing and cotton underwear to avoid any discomfort.
