Breast Implant Removal

Breast Implant Removal is a procedure that involves removing an implant from the breast and either replacing it or returning it to its original state.

There are different reasons a patient may opt for breast implant removal – your implants could be ruptured or deflated making them sit below the natural crease, your implants may not fit your body or you could be thinking of starting a family and not wanting to breastfeed with implants. At Hadley Wood Hospital our consultants are highly trained experts and will tailor each service to the patients needs ensuring all procedures are carried out to the highest standard.

Procedure

Your procedure will be performed under a general anaesthetic and will take around 1-2 hours to completed. In many cases your surgeon will make an incision where your previous scar was for the removal of the implant

Aftercare

Following your surgery, you are advised to sit upright in order to minimise swelling. It is recommended you take a week off work to allow recovery and slowly return to exercising and normal activities within 4 weeks. You should wear loose clothing to allow the swelling to heal faster.

Your surgeon will advise you of the appropriate aftercare following your surgery and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
